Learning

Over the weekend, I’ll be teaching at Limmud, in Birmingham. It’s a Jewish learning festival, usually held over the Christmas period, where I started introducing Feldenkrais 7 years ago.

It’s a festival that has it’s own flavour. There is a massive range of topics, and sessions run alongside each other. One of ideas is that anyone can apply to teach or lead a session, and other people may be invited. Which means that some sessions are amazing, and others might not be what you expect.

I’ve heard some wonderful speakers, musicians, and others which I sat near the back so I could slink out. Which is a particular Limmud etiquette: it’s perfectly OK to leave a session if it’s not what you imagined it would be, or you’re not enjoying it.
The first time it happened to me I was a little taken aback. But over the years I’ve become accustomed to it. I see it in a more humourous vein (and some immediacy of feedback!). It’s also stood me in good stead for leading much larger workshops, and standing on larger stages, without being upset if some people aren’t with me.

So I’m really pleased to be back, and if you’re there, do say hello.
