
What’s your favourite thing about Spring? I am so pleased March has arrived, and the dark of winter is finally over. Along with the crocuses.
For me, the change in light and arrival of blossom always changes my mood. And with that comes a change in body state. I’m not as cold, so I tend to feel more relaxed, And that affects both how I act, and how I’m perceived.
Emotions are body states.
If you think of something or someone that mildly annoys you, notice that thought changes how you breathe, your facial expression, or your general muscle tone. If you change thought and think of a smell you find disgusting, notice the viscerality of that. And if you finally think of someone or a place you love, and allow that memory to touch your face, sense that change again.
We can’t unpick emotions from any part of us
– thinking, sensing or moving. They’re hardwired in to everything we do, feel or think. So enjoy the flowers in the next few weeks!
