Heads, Shoulders, Toes, Nervous System…

Why do Feldenkrais?

Every time you move, with attention, you’re improving your awareness. You’re improving your connections between body and brain.

Part of the problem for all of us is that we don’t sense enough of ourselves. We don’t feel the relationships between all the parts.

In each lesson I shine a spotlight on a different area, different connections. For you to feel how you habitually use it. For you to sense where you could improve that relationship. By improving the awareness; sensing more completely; by improving the quality with which you move.

As we improve the pixelation of the area, we can sense ourselves better. So we can move ourselves better. For some, that will be with more freedom, for others more connection. more sense of the lines of strength through the skeleton. For others, the improvement of ergonomics will help you move more easily. Or the reduction of friction will mean you move more smoothly, with more grace.

Each lesson speaks to us all a little differently. We all have a different personal history, with ourselves, and how we move. Some habits we get from our family, our parents. We unconsciously mimic their movement patterns and/or thinking patterns in childhood. Others we pick up on the way to our present moment.

Feldenkrais isn’t like yoga, or pilates, or other exercises. We’re not focusing on strengthening muscle. We are strengthening relationships between our body and mind that are out of balance. One relationship at a time.

The proof’s in the eating of course. Come along and try it out. Ideally you need to give it 4 weeks to see if it’s for you. The first group class is on me. If you’d like an online discovery session, that’s on me too. We’ll just talk to see if I can be of help in what you’re looking to improve in your life.
