One terrible detail after another has emerged from Israel in the  aftermath of the invasion and atrocities of Hamas last weekend.  Many of us in the Feldenkrais family have ties to Israel and the Jewish world. Moshe Feldenkrais was a Jewish Russian Israeli himself.

I send my condolences along with my sorrow, love and hope to my Israeli and Jewish colleagues who have lost loved ones, or are awaiting news of hostages.  May their memories be a solace to you in your grief. And may the hostages be returned safely to your embrace.

As a British Jew, I have been shocked by the levels of antisemitism around the world in light of this pogrom. I’ve been fortified by the love and support of many of my friends, students and colleagues who have reached out to me in various ways.

Tragically, many of the residents of Gaza themselves are also victims of Hamas. I am pained by their losses as well.  I can only hope that something positive emerges from this tragedy, in which both Israelis and Palestinians can live in a lasting peace.

I stand against terrorism, and racism of any kind.
