Conventionally, the way we think in our society is that when something hurts, let’s say your neck, you address the problem directly. Perhaps strengthening, massage, stretching, to improve the symptoms that you’re experience. Often the issue goes away, only to come back another time.
Often, because we have patterns or habits of self-use, that are what brought the problem in the first place.

Think holistically instead…
A more holistic or systems approach would be to recognise that the neck is part of the whole. The whole spine, and all of you. So instead of addressing the part alone, you improve the relationship between your neck and the other parts.
It means changing your habitual movement patterns around your neck. Changing your thinking, your brain and nervous system by movement retraining. (This applies to any part or condition, as all your body parts are connected, as the song goes!)
Changing your nervous system means learning.
Retraining the nervous system, and your movement patterns. Working with all of you helps you see the resources you do have, rather than limiting yourself to thinking only the parts that aren’t working as well as you’d like.
Tomorrow’s lesson is a favourite of mine, helping you find a new way of thinking of your neck and connecting through the spine into movement! Join us, and enjoy learning a new way of moving, thinking and being in your body.
In your weekly lessons this month, we’ll be putting your back back together again. To sense a more holistic self, in order to use your body more efficiently, and more intelligently.
So join us!
If you’d prefer to work with me individually, please get in touch. We’ll start with either a session (for those ready to jump in), or free consultation, online or by phone.
If you’re specifically interested in improving your anxiety with others, I’ll have a new Reducing Anxiety group course starting on the 2nd of October on Monday evenings online.
Get in touch soon if you’re interested, I’ve already got lots of interest, so there are just 8 places available.
Your first lesson with me is on me! Then you can choose what works best for you: termly, monthly or drop-in.
What do you learn?
A recent student, Jennifer: “It’s extremely wonderful how in Feldenkrais you become more aware of your body and what it can do. I’m very grateful!”
Arlene: a recent Reducing Anxiety group participant:
“Many of the lessons were transformative. We worked with slow, easy movements that can be done even if one is incapacitated. Deep work that changes your body in ways that are surprising. I found I can turn down the volume on my anxiety with movement”
